The new Volvo C30 also offers a range of new interior options
20th April 2012
“We know that a large proportion, almost half, of all C30 customers make detailed interior choices. They want to decide for themselves what their car should look like and are not interested in readymade packages. The new C30 gives them a range of fresh, modern style cues in terms of both colour and fabric to choose between,” explains Maria Uggla, Program Chief Designer Colour & Trim at Volvo Cars.
“We have also focused on making it easier for customers to match exterior design elements with interior trim in an attractive way, something that has been made that much easier with the new Espresso/Blond colour combination,” continues Maria Uggla.
Yet another new feature is the luggage compartment cover in the rear, which uses a new material and a new graphic pattern to further enhance the car’s modern image.
New centre stack – Oyster Burst Déco
Volvo’s special centre stack is already available in a range of innovative variants. Now another new option is being added, Oyster Burst Déco. Volvo’s design team was inspired by the surface texture of the classic Swedish Hagström guitars that enjoyed world renown in the hands of stars such as Elvis Presley back in the 1950s. Hagström used the word “burst” in many of its model names and gave their guitars a pattern that shifted subtly from light to dark and back again. Just like in the new centre stack of the Volvo C30.
New expressive accessory styling kit
The Volvo C30 also meets the wishes of buyers with a broader car design interest. A youthful new accessory styling kit with a bolder, less polished style gives the C30 even more attitude. The kit includes foglamp décor, a front skidplate, side scuff plates with engraved C30 logo and a rear skidplate with a stylish aluminium look. For D5 and T5 two 90 mm tail pipes in polished stainless steel are added to underline the powerful engine.
The latest version of the Volvo C30 DRIVe is also capable of up to 74.3 mpg on the combined cycle and can cover up to 857 miles on a single tank. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, the new model will be available to order in the UK from October 2009.
Since May 2009, the Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe has been available with an advanced Start/Stop function that switches off the engine when the car is at a standstill. This, together with a number of improvements in the areas of engine management and combustion technology, brought the C30 DRIVe down to 104 g/km of CO2. Just a few months later, yet more advances have been made.
The new five-cylinder 2-litre turbodiesel introduced in the all-new Volvo S60 is now available throughout Volvo Cars’ model range – and there are upgraded six-cylinder petrol engines too.
“The new engines offer greater driving pleasure across the range. What is more, our strong drive to reduce carbon dioxide emissions means that fuel consumption has been cut as well,” says Magnus Jonsson, Senior Vice President Product Development at Volvo Cars.
The new five-cylinder D3 is in principle the same engine as the well-established 2.4-litre diesel, but its displacement has been reduced with a shorter stroke to optimise fuel consumption.
The engine has been optimised for low fuel consumption and the injection system has a different type of piezoelectric fuel injector compared with the D5 engine. These injectors minimise consumption with exceptionally rapid and precise injection pulses under high pressure. This promotes extremely efficient combustion.
In order to give the car better driving properties, the turbocharger has been fine-tuned to provide high torque from low revs.
In the Volvo S80, V70, XC70 and XC60 the newly developed 2-litre diesel engine produces 163 hp and 400 Nm of torque. In these models the engine is badged the D3.
The Volvo S80, V70, XC70 and XC60 can also be specified with the high-performance D5 engine that produces 205 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque.
All the variants of the new two-litre turbodiesel can be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual gearbox. In the D5, the automatic transmission now also features a Sport setting for more agile gearchanging.
Volvo XC90, which has been on the market since 2003, will be retained for production until the model year 2014. In accordance, tuner specialist HEICO SPORTIV is revitalizing the XC90 design and is now presenting an entirely new bodykit for the Sweden SUV.
The Volvo XC90 by HEICO SPORTIV has a perfectly integrated design. The six-part bodykit picks up on the current Volvo XC60′s dynamic use of forms, fitting like a custom-made suit. The one-piece front skirt replaces the series-produced central and side panels and has a stainless steel stay located in front of the cooling air outlet.
The Volvo plug-in is expected to hit the asphalts of Europe by 2012. The car can run on electricity alone for 60 miles on a single charge. The vehicle will be produce under an agreement of cooperation with Vattenfall, an energy supplier in Sweden, which will develop the electric system of the vehicle.
The joint venture between Volvo and Vattenfall was sealed since 2007. Saab also joined the accord to develop the needed technology last year. Volvo has developed concept cars like the one deriving its DNA from the C30 hatchback. Saab has also their concept car 9-X BioHybrid. There have also been sightings of the hybrid plug in versions of the V70 of Volvo along the public thoroughfares in Europe.
The company uses the demo cars to get the feedback they need from the drivers about the implementation of the hybrid technology. It also gives them an idea of the driving habits of consumers which they may need to adapt to.
Volvo Car Corporation will use the 2011 LA Auto Show as the backdrop for introducing the 2012 C70 Inscription. Perhaps the ultimate expression of Volvo’s iconic hardtop convertible, the Inscription package will be offered in limited quantities and is set to arrive in Volvo retailers early next year.
The C70 Inscription gets its mettle through performance tuning to the Engine Control Module (ECM), which is unique to the U.S. market. Provided by Volvo Cars partner Polestar, the tuning optimizes engine output in a variety of ways. The turbocharged inline 5-cylinder engine generates 250 hp at 5,500 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. Power is routed to the front wheels through a 5-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.
Volvo Cars have announced that they will be unveiling the V60 Plug-in Hybrid at the upcoming 81st International Geneva Motor Show on early March 2011. The V60 Plug-in Hybrid is the result of close cooperation between Volvo Cars and Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall. The V60, which will be launched on the market in 2012, is a virtually production-ready car with carbon dioxide emissions below 50 g/km.
Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid offers cheaper fuel costs. When powered solely by electricity, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid has a range of up to 50 kilometers. The car’s total operating range is up to 1200 km. Carbon dioxide emissions will be an average of 49 grams per kilometer (EU Combined) and fuel consumption will be 1.9 liters per 100 km. Charging time is about five hours if the car is recharged at home.
2012 Volvo S80 Executive is a car coming from the manufacturer in Sweden who has gotten a little revision, but this time there are no fundamental changes.
In the exterior design of the 2012 Volvo S80 Executive retains an attractive design and makes people’s attention fixed on this car, because with modern design and style aristocracy. Because there are no changes to the exterior design of this car.

Comfort and luxury is still the main attraction of the 2012 Volvo S80 Executive, and this will make many people praise this car. S80 cabin is more exclusive blended, combined modern features.
2013 Volvo XC30 crossover will get inside looks typical for XC60, but at the same time, he will not be much more dynamic than the current of his brother, well and finishing of the interior XC30 will be the best in its segment. And this is not the same truck that we used to see, it’s much better and cooler.
It is not excluded, by the way, that the new Volvo XC30 crossover will be available as a long wheelbase and a routine for all modifications. As expected, dlinobaznaya modification Volvo XC30 will be offered in China, and perhaps, also in North America.
Volvo‘s US division has dropped prices for the S60 T5 FWD model, which starts at $30,795, excluding an $875 destination fee. That’s $450 less than the previous base price. The updated offer is also accompanied by a special introductory lease rate plan of $299/month, available until February 28, 2011.
The T5’s standard equipment includes among other things, power driver seat with memory, power folding rear head restraints, front and rear sport seats, leather steering wheel with metal inlays, dual-zone air conditioning, infotainment and 8-speaker sound system, Bluetooth hands-free phone interface, T-Tec textile upholstery and 17-inch alloys.
There’s no shortage of safety systems as well, such as Corner Traction Control by torque vectoring, Advanced Stability Control, Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS) and a host of airbags.
Furthermore, the S60 includes Volvo’s Safe+Secure Coverage Plan, which means owners pay nothing to repair or maintain their vehicles for 5 year or 60,000 miles, minus when replacing the tires.
