2005 saw the introduction of a new engine in the Volvo XC90. The new 4.4L V8 engine may have contributed to the impressive sales showing that year, when over 85,000 units were sold.
The next update to the model took place in 2007. At this point, the interior was updated, keeping in mind the consumer’s desire for something that is both attractive and functional. Controls are easy to find and operate, and an integrated booster seat in was added in the middle rear seat. The second and third rows of seats fold down easily for hauling cargo.
In July of 2007, more than 42,000 XC90s (2005 model year) were recalled. There were concerns that the vehicle’s batteries could short circuit and result in a fire. Cars manufactured in Sweden between June 7, 2004 and May 13, 2005 were included in the recall, and recall notices were sent to owners in Canada and the United States only.
The interior of the Volvo V70 has been dosed heavily with Scandinavian styling standards. To say that it is sophisticated is quite an understatement. Intelligent control placements abound in the overall accessible layout and make driving easy in pleasurable. The V70 interacts with the driver like a best friend. On the outside, the well accepted box-style silhouette remains. There has been no attempt to radically depart from what Volvo lovers have become so familiar with. And when you have gear, luggage or groceries to haul, you can easily fold the rear seats flat and present yourself with a whopping 72.1 cubic feet of spacious bliss.
Open the hood of the new Volvo V70 and be faced with a 3.2L 235hp 236 lb-ft inline six-cylinder engine. The V70 is the flagship station wagon for the Volvo company. Through the years, it has demonstrated staying power that few vehicles ever have. Even through the times when public demand for minivans and other wagons has faltered, and now that so many are fans of larger, bulky are crossovers and SUVs, 2010 Volvo V70 dealers continue to hold the loyalty of people all around the planet.
Pricing for the 2010 V70 from Volvo ranges from $33,550 up to $38,000. That’s comparable with its main competition: the Audi A4, the BMW 328, the Volkswagen Passat and the Subaru Outback. Volvo has been manufacturing wagon style vehicles for over five decades now. 2011 Volvo C70 Facelift Scooped
26th August 2009
These days its seems like we’re getting more scoop photos from blog readers and forum members than from professional spy photographers. A pair of completely undisguised 2011MY (or 2010MY) Volvo C70 facelift models were captured on film during a photo shoot somewhere in Barcelona, Spain, by an eagle-eyed member of the Swedespeed Volvo4Life forums. Looking at the camera phone photos it is clear that the redesign of the C70 coupe-convertible was stylistically influenced by the S60 Concept sports sedan that was revealed at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
Out of pure courtesy we didn’t ask if this is the result of one of our spy photographer’s obsession with work or simply a tool that makes Gawid’s job easier on the field when he is chasing around camouflaged prototypes of all sorts. But either way, the checkered spy theme on the Volvo 460 sure helps to inject some needed personality into the boxy Swedish sedan.
In about a year’s time, Swedish automaker Volvo will perform the market launch of the all new S60 premium sedan that will be heavily based on the stylish S60 Concept that made its global debut at the Detroit Show this past January. We’ve already seen static footage of the four-door coupe design study but now Sweden’s Teknikens Varld magazine took the one-off concept car for a quick spin. Unfortunately, Google has yet to find a way to automatically translate audio from videos, so unless you happen to hook up with a bilingual Swedish gal, you’re better off lowering the volume in order to enjoy to the ride.
Swedish automaker Volvo has revealed plans to have a production plug-in diesel-electric hybrid model on the market as early as 2012. To help achieve its goal, Volvo has formed a joint partnership with Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall. The two companies have been cooperating in the field of plug-in hybrid technology since early 2007. Volvo also announced that it has readied three prototype V70 Diesel-Electric plug-in hybrid models that will be used to gather information on the new technology, to determine driver habits and to establish how they want to charge their cars.
On Monday, Volvo announced that it has teamed up with Swedish energy giant Vattenfall to introduce plug-in hybrid models to the market in 2012. But before we see the final production cars arriving in showrooms, Volvo will present a trio of V70 diesel plug-in hybrid demonstrator cars this summer to test the new technology. Click through to watch the video that includes interviews with several Volvo officials as well as footage of the demo V70 plug-in hybrid in action.
Off-road tuning specialist ‘Cobra Technology & Lifestyle’ has presented its latest line of aftermarket bling for the new Volvo XC60 SUV. The range includes the ‘oh so useful for your typical, city-dwelling XC60 owner’ stainless-steel front guards and rocker panels with integrated steps. Ironically, all that shiny protective armor can be complemented with a set of 18, 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels that are available in four different designs.
